A tiled stove is built around a masonry firebox with a fire door and fireclay flues with high heat storage. It is normally clad in stove tiles, though fireclay works too.
What sets these stoves apart is that they keep giving off gentle radiant heat for 12 to 24 hours after the fire has died down. They burn remarkably little wood, on average 4 to 5 m3 per heating season, depending of course on the size of the stove.
